Planar Analysis

Planar Analysis is the study of an objects in planar form. The use of planes shows a object that may appear only in 2-d form, however the variety in planes create a 3-d shape. One artists example would be Pablo Picasso. His work is known as cubism, however he uses planes in order to show the different sides of a human figure such as the picture below. The name of his artwork is Femme En Pleurs. This work shows the study of planar analysis rather than simply cubism.

Leonardo da Vinci - Perspective

Annunciation - Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian artists that used linear perspective in order to create an illusion of distance and space on a flat plane. Leonardo uses a horizon line and an array of orthogonal lines in his piece in order to present depth on a flat surface. This is one of his finished pieces that he completed during his early 20's. Aside from many other artists, Leonardo thinks of perspective as a mathematical problem in which he addresses as a mathematician and an artist.
